I realize the world of fiction is a place that allows anything to happen. Sure in canon Mordecai would never meet Twilight but in the world of fiction, anything is possible. Even though the characters themselves are mere entities that exist only in the mind of their creators, they allow fans like you to interpret what they would do through your own unique perspective. I'm still not a fan of crossover shipping but who knows? Maybe in the world of fiction Dash would hit it off with Sonic. Maybe Pinkie Pie might have a thing for Shadow. Maybe despite their differences, Trixie would somehow have awkward pity sex with Rigby. The point it, the world of fiction is a place where a simple human can turn himself into a god that can destroy or build worlds. If you want Benson to be with Celestia or Mordecai with Twilight, who am I to judge?
Its your passion, hence forth you should continue doing it regardless of what people think. People will always criticize but keep in mind that being an artist not everyone is going to like your work. Heck, in some instances most people will hate your work. Cartuneslover16 gets a lot of flame for what she does but she does it because its what she likes to do.
Don't let Mordecai getting with Margaret or Twilight getting a boyfriend cause depression because that is just canon, far different from the world of fandom. In fandom you have the ability to make two characters who would not meet under normal circumstances meet.
